Omar Vincent Melehy

Mr. Melehy began his legal career in 1987, when he served as a judicial law clerk to Maryland Court of Appeals Judge William H. Adkins, II and then for 8 years as an Assistant Attorney General with the Maryland Attorney General’s Office, where he became a seasoned trial lawyer. Since 1997, Mr. Melehy has dedicated his career to representing employees in various disputes with their employers, including wage and hour and discrimination cases against both private sector and federal government employers. Over the years, Mr. Melehy and his law firm have represented countless employees and obtained substantial settlements and numerous court verdicts and judgments. Mr. Melehy also has extensive appellate experience in Maryland and the District of Columbia, which has resulted in many precedent-setting decisions.

Mr. Melehy is also well-respected by his peers. He has achieved an AV Rating – a Preeminent (5 out of 5) rating from Martindale-Hubble Peer Review Ratings, which is the highest rating available. The AV-rating is based upon Mr. Melehy’s exceptional legal knowledge and legal experience. He is a member of the District of Columbia and Maryland Bars. He is also on the Board of Directors and President Elect of the Metropolitan Washington Employment Lawyers Association (“MWELA”) and is Board Member of the Washington Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs. He is the former the Board President of the Employment Justice Center, an advocacy group for low income wage earners.

Mr. Melehy and his law firm have represented countless employees in hearings and trials in both state and federal court. He has extensive appellate experience in Maryland and the District of Columbia, which has resulted in many precedent-setting decisions.
